Close to the end of the school year

This year went by quick! It's crazy how time "flies by". I'm finally going to take a break from school and from some annoying teachers.

Michelle a presentation about judgment. She showed us how people can be quick to judge someone by their appearance. Michelle showed us a video that demonstrates judgment.
Sokartis gave us a lesson about creating a business. He told us that his uncle owns businesses around the area.

Cesar did a good job on talking about his topic. It really caught my attention, it probably inspired half of the class!

Journal May 8th

A magic spell that I would invent is making trash disappear. Honestly,  make garbage  disappear because it is all I see around here, thrown garbage. No one picks it up and it rots. This will make earth a better place because earth will stay clean. Earth suffers with trash around the world. 

We eat social media for breakfast

Social media for breakfast? Sounds tasty! I think some of us don't notice that we use social media on daily bases , it's basically part of our habit. Now that we live with these new technology, we have easy access to socialize with others around us. We have shit loads of apps so we can communicate  to others.
 The way the author uses diction is he gives us how he feels about the Internet. He wants us to know why the internet was created . We give away much of our personal  life to social media , such as  Facebook. The author wants us to realize what we do on Facebook, instagram, Snapchat, etc.
   Tone, it's very serious. It's like the author is telling us to think about why we have all these media. We don't realize the  people around us, only the people we see on the screen. The author tells us about how his childhood was with pictures. It's true ! I can relate, I remember having a plastic camera with me . I would take it when I would go to school field trips because I was excited. I wanted to share the pictures with my family.  This was way before I had a phone , I remember the other kids having a device with them , but I didn't really care. I like to keep things like the early 2000s. Our phones is taking up our time of living.

IGNITE TALK

This wasn't really my big question but now it is : the use of nuclear weapons.
What are nuclear weapons used for in this modern time ? Threats ? End all life on earth ? Show countries that you are superior?
What I learned during spring break is nuclear weapons is very deadly to life and earth. United states spends $179 billion for a nuclear arsenal.
The certain nuclear  bomb we have right now is the B83, it is 75 times powerful than the bombs that were dropped in Japan during World War 2.
This is sort of related to Fahrenheit 451 towards the end of book when Montag sees the city get bombed and demolished
I'm going to look more information about today's war and if countries are able to release nukes.

F451 Essay

The most shocking book that I've  read in my highschool life! Ray Bradbury is one creative mindful author. After reading Fahrenheit 451, it left me thinking about the  society we live in now . So many things are comparable to the story. There is  characters that make a impact in the story such as Clarisse and Beatty. Two characters with two different minds.

 When we started the story , we met Clarisse, she was a 17 year old girl. She was very social when she came upon Montag.  She was a mindful person. In the story she is different from everyone. People called her weird because she was open minded. Clarisse asked Montag questions that made him think. Ever since Montag talked to Clarisse , he started to change.  Clarisse family is unique because her family actually socialize. She told Montag about her uncle , when he was walking in the streets , he was arrested for being a 'pedestrian'. Clarisse represents us. We are very curious , when we see something different , we want to know more about it . Clarisse shows emotions.

 On the other hand we have Beatty. The fire chief or whatever he is . Seems like a normal good guy in the beginning. Beatty is anti-book and his job is to burn them. He doesn't like people knowing the facts about the past. Beatty was a guy that handled situations like when he talked to Montag about the death of the lady that got burned. He knew all the respond to questions. Towards the end he was threat to Montag. Montag knew he wasn't safe around Beatty because he was against things that were in books. Montag killed Beatty,  soon enough he noticed that Beatty was empty. By empty I mean he wanted to be gone,  he wanted be dead. His life was sad , he didn't like him self.

 Beatty and Clarisse,  two different characters. The way Bradbury described them  was imaginable. Clarisse represented the present time people like us. We may have technology taking over but we are still humans,  we still act like one, we are mindful . Beatty represented the the opposite.  He used up lies to make people believe uncertain things. He didn't want people to think way beyond. Beatty was controlling Montag majority of the time , that's why Montag killed him. What I think is that Clarisse was an angel , she told Montag if he was happy , which changed him. With out Clarisse Montag would of been dead.

What would happen if books were banned in today's real world

Some of my class members wouldn't be bothered if books were gone.... interesting.

The Chase is On

1) The mechanical hound bite Montag's leg.
2) Montag burned up the hound with the flamethrower.
3) He realizes that Beatty was a man that wanted to die , his job was to get people mad.
4) Montag was running away , trying to escape from the police. But plans to go to Faber place.
5) He dropped a book and I was fearing for his life because he saw a car approaching

Montag kills

Montag Turned the flame thrower towards Beatty because he was tired of everything. He was tired of Beatty controlling him, making him believe his lies. Montag wants to change his way of living. He broke out and killed Beauty

F451 Questions pt2

1) Montag wanted to read the book badly but Mildred refused. She felt unsafe with books.
2) The first section Montag thought about Bombers destroying him , but then realize that actual bombers are destroying people.
3) Professer Faber is an old English teacher that Montag knew a while back.
4) Montag felt that the commercials on the subway were hurting him.
5) Faber believes that books you feelings and make think certain ways.

2) Books are compared to birds because when they burn the books. It's ashes  goes flying like birds.
3) Montag's life is different compared to Clarisse's life. Montag is brained washed and lives unhappy. Clarisse is different from everyone. She's open minded , she sees what's wrong with society.
4) The technology in the novel is compared to the technology we have in today's world. Technology does not improve Montag's life. It kept his life apart from  people.
5) He starts off with Montag because he will be the main character that will need help through out the story. Montag will notice that the world will be in danger.
6) The author introduces Clarisse first because she's different from everyone. She's happy with her life . Mildred is the opposite,  she's always sick , wants to die.
7) The houses are fireproof so if anyone has books,  firemen can enter and burn it up with out burning the house.
8) Mildred need emergency service because she overdosed. The service that was provided was mechanics. A machine.
9) The mechanical hound is there to watch over Montag and kill others.
10) Society consider Clarisse anti social because she's different and thinks differently.

F451 CH1 guiding questions

1) Montag lives in America where there's no books. It's like if a book was sort of a drug in society. Fire men start fire instead of putting it off. It's a place where technology takes over humanity and books are ban. It is pretty similar to today's society. We use devices to help us do our work , we pay attention to what we watch than what we read.
2) Clarisse is special,  she is like us living in the future. She is different because she believes that society is backwards. She's open minded and not brain washed.
3) The mechanical hound was programmed to help Montag in anything

PrufRock impression

The poem is different from what I thought. The love that was talked about in this poem was some what lost. Prufrock was describing how he felt. He loved this girl so much he couldn't do anything but think of what he should do with no mistakes. He was stuck in his mind. At the end, his love has died out . Seems like he stopped trying. It's a sad and great poem this can be related to other people in some ways. It's called love song to attract people to think love is happiness,  but really it's a tragic.

CAN WE WATCH THE MOVIE?

Sometimes the movie can be good but not correct to the book. I like reading books with movies about it because we can see the people , the setting everything that we had in mind when we read. In my opinion it's  fun to catch some mistakes in the movie . A movie is a way to enjoy  the book after reading it.

My first impression is that the author is very descriptive. He is giving us the imagery of the setting. He tells what time means in different ways. I just like the way he is being creative and making us take pieces of what he want us look for.

Chapter 8 notes

Daisy killed Myrtle.
Gatsby gets blamed on.
Nick warns Gatsby to run away because police are trying to  track him down.
Wilson finds out about the yellow car, and finds out , that the car was owned by Gatsby. Gatsby was home waiting for a call from Daisy , but instead Wilson goes to gatsby place and kills gatsby and himself.

Chapter 7 Notes

- Gatsby stopped throwing parties because Daisy has been around the house with him.
- Nick and Gatsby go over Tom Buchanan house so Daisy can tell Tom the truth.
- Instead they went to the city , Tom figures out that his wife and mistress are trying to leave him.

- Nick realizes that it was his Birthday.

Without Immigrants

Since I didn't show up to school. I show support towards this peaceful protest. I decided to write down few things that were in my mind and it's called Without Immigrants.

Without us...
This country would be nothing.
From the land to sea.
From beautiful mountains to beautiful ocean that we see.
Hard working people , coming to a country that was once known for hope.
These people worked in hard conditions to succeed.
Struggled through day and night to provide the family needs.
Discriminated by the people that claim to be human.
Without us.... there would be no statue that said give me your poor. Give me your people that you don't want!
There would be no such thing as Americans, without our parents or grandparents  hard achievements.
From the tallest building in New York that we know , to the flat agricultural land of California.
 Fully grown by foreigners that helped built a country .
Now the future generations of immigrants feel paranoia. 
We live in stolen land , We made it feel like it's home, cause the real home  land is worser. 
It doesn't matter where your roots are from , Asian, Mexican, Latino,  African, Arabic, European, we are united.
Illegal or legal, immigrants will always love America as much as one claims to be.
Without us... there would be no America.

Is Gatsby good or bad ?

To me Gatsby is 50% good and 50% bad. Gatsby is quite a polite guy to Nick. He changed  the way he was for Daisy the love of his life. He became successful now that's he's rich. The other the half is, he is hiding from his past. He works with gamblers and gangsters. He is trying to win back someone that already has a family.

     Chapter 3 was mainly about Gatsby big party. Nick got invited to the party , during the party he meets up with Jordan. Nick was curious about the host about the party. He talked to other people from the party to known if the ever knew Gatsby. Many belived he was a man that killed a person. Nick and Jordan enter the library where meets a man owl eye and the butler. The man was talking about books being real , then later one Gatsby enters the room . Nick couldn't believe that he remember him from the war. They talked for a few moments then Gatsby left . Nick got curious and wanted to know more about Gatsby. Towards the end of the party there was a car crash outside the mansion. He talks about Jordan being a golf champion .

Chapter 3

Nick meets Gatsby, Nick feels unusual about Gatsby because he had feelings.  They talk about the war they were in . Nick got curious about Gatsby and wanted to know about him more. He tried getting information but no one knew. There music playing in the big room , when the butler asked miss baker to talk to Gatsby in a room. Nick was left alone while music was playing and women were arguing with the men.

If I was lucky enough to be invited to Gatsby party , I would have a time of my life. Music playing , you meet unknown people. The place that Gatsby owns is big , it's a world of Gatsby. Even in his own party you will hear rumors of his past just like when they were talking about Gatsby being a German spy or being an American soldiers. But most In the party there's everyone talking,  drinking,  enjoying the music with others.  Who wouldn't enjoy a party in a big manson.

Starts off with a guy named Nick that moves in to a new place in New York. He lives in a small house in West Egg village next to the Gatsby Manson. He goes off to visit his far away cousin Daisy and her husband Tom Buchanan. Tom is described as an rich asshole and racist. He also cheats on his wife. F. Scott Fitzgerald tells us how unhappy people can be with money . I didn't really get to finish chapter 1 because I was absent.

Music as Literature

Yes, MUSIC can be LITERATURE ! Music is another way readers or listeners can enjoy stories , songs can give you a tone of what it's talking about. Song writers can be very creative with their music. The difference between a novel, poem,  rap , song and opra is how the tune is played . Rap and poems are similar because they use rhyming skills and also descriptive background.
